2018–2024 Summer Camp Impact Summary

Education x The Power of Community


Through our intentional investment in Black, Indigenous, Students of Color and Black, Indigenous, Educators of Color, our summer camp work represents a critical area of impact for our organization. Since 2018 we have:


Student Impact:

  • Engaged 311 young learners in transformative summer programs

  • Created safe, culturally affirming spaces where students see themselves reflected in their mentors

  • Built sustained relationships across multiple summers of programming




Educator Investment

  • Employed 127 educators (general and guest teachers)

  • Employed and mentored 8 youth assistants (ages 16-21), providing valuable early career experience

  • Since 2022, we have a full-time Program Director that works from January to July as designated leadership for our program



Economic Impact

  • Directly investing ~$35,000 a year into our local BIPOC network

  • Fortified sustainable earning opportunities for educators and local teaching artists

  • Reinforcing the economic viability of our cultural ecosystem


Leadership Development

  • Empowered youth assistants to develop professional skills as educators

  • Provided meaningful employment pathways for emerging BIPOC leaders

  • Supported intergenerational knowledge sharing and mentorship

  • Provided leadership opportunities for our campers to directly influence summer camp through our MOVERs program and Educators in Training program open to students 16 years old and younger.
